Periodic UpdatesRegarding the Impact of Covid-19

March 7, 2021

It's the final countdown! We're at the one week mark and so excited to be able to share the moment with everyone. It may not be what we had originally planned, but we're happy to be moving forward and make the most of it nonetheless. If you did NOT receive your livestream invitation or save the date for next year - no you were not "un-invited"; the US Post Office just doesn't like you. - But really, there were some major hiccups in delivery, so please always continue to check the website for updates. If you didn't get a new save the date/invitation, please reach out to make sure that we have your appropriate contact information. If you did receive your invitation/save the date, but it was astronomically late, please still send it back to us anyway!

All our love, Shane & Marisa

January 26, 2021

By now, all guests should have received an interesting mailer which serves as both an invitation to our livestream event on March 13, 2021 and as a save the date for our reception on March 26, 2022. We hope it made you laugh - and do forgive the grammatical errors; in our haste, we forgot to proof read! We hope you'll forgive us. Please take the time to send back the perforated postcard by March 1, 2021. We will use these as confirmation that you received the notification regarding next year, for assistance in planning for website traffic, to collect your contact information in the case of future changes, and as an opportunity for a much needed laugh at your silly responses.

The livestream will begin at 4:30pm either directly within or linked from this website. There will be an intermission (drink!) between approximately 5:00pm and 6:00pm at which point we will reconvene for our first dance (no judgment, we have four left feet), cake cutting, and speeches from the Maid of Honor and Best Man. We will conclude around 7:00pm or 7:30pm.

More details regarding the livestream will be announced as they are available. This is all very "play by ear" and we applaud our vendors and bridal party for their flexibility and willingness to try new approaches to so many aspects of the planned evening.  We can't promise that there won't be technical issues or hiccups, but isn't that symbolic of marriage after all?

More soon!

January 4, 2021

Happy New Year! We hope that 2021 finds you all in good health and improved spirits. Despite vaccinations on the horizon, we believe that a large gathering in March of 2021 may still be premature to ensure the health and safety of our friends and family. Rather than postpone our future further, we hope that you will join us for a livestream broadcast of our nuptials on March 13, 2021 and a much anticipated reception in Hampton, VA on March 26, 2022. You read that right - that's a year long cocktail hour -- and as far as we're concerned, you can take the whole year to imbibe and celebrate in preparation for one hell of a party at the other end of this tunnel. More details delivered to your mailbox soon!

With love,

Shane & Marisa

September 26, 2020

Though much may change in the coming months, for better or worse, we wanted to share with you that we plan to make necessary adjustments to our event for the comfort and safety of our guests. In addition to these measures, for the protection of friends and family, we would like to strongly encourage each guest to obtain a PCR or Antigen test prior to or following arrival in the state of Virginia. As we draw closer to the date, we will be providing a list of available testing opportunities and options locally in Southern Virginia, in proximity to our guests, and available along the route (for those driving). Likewise, though it may seem invasive, we hope that you will understand our decision to perform temperature checks prior to entry into the event. Disposable thermometers will be provided to each guest within the hotel block for advance identification however, consistent with CDC guidelines, even our dearest friends with forehead temperatures exceeding 100.4 F will not be admitted into the event. In such unfortunate circumstances, a live stream option will be available.

May 22, 2020

We have made the decision to postpone our September wedding to March 13, 2021. We believe that this is the right precautionary measure to ensure the health and safety of our friends and family. We would like to thank our venue and vendors for their continued support and accommodation and hope that our guests will, likewise, support our decision. In due time, we will send a more formal communication. In the interim however, please reach out directly with any questions.

May 8, 2020

To our family and friends, as we all adapt to this uncertain time with COVID-19 (coronavirus), we hope that you have found ways to keep your spirits up and remain happy and healthy.  Many of you have reached out to understand our intentions to either move forward or postpone our planned September 5, 2020 wedding in Virginia. Keeping in mind data and guidelines provided by the CDC, WHO, the State of Virginia, and the localities of our guests, we are monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to take every precaution in order to ensure your health and safety. While the data may, at some point, advise that we postpone our celebration with you, we recognize that it may be premature to make a rational decision.

In tandem with many states, Virginia is expected to enter "Phase I" re-opening on May 15, 2020. Though restrictions will continue for some time, the coming weeks will be crucial in deciding whether or not we will be able to gather in September. As of today however, we are hopeful and continue to proceed as planned for September 5, 2020. If restrictions do lift, we will all be in dire need of a celebration by the end of summer. Please continue to book your accommodations as planned, but consider the of leniency cancellation policies in light of current events. All this being said, the safety of our guests is our utmost priority and we will continue to provide you with updates as available.

We love you all, stay healthy and well,

Shane & Marisa
